Confined spaces can present some
of the most challenging environments for health and
safety professionals. Unstable materials, toxic
atmospheres, or the potential for falls put employees at
risk. That’s why employers must evaluate all confined
spaces to identify potential hazards and determine how
to address them.
The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA)
requires that employers test air quality, keep spaces
ventilated, provide proper safety equipment, and have
rescue procedures in place. Approximately 61 percent of
confined-space fatalities are caused by unsafe physical
conditions and 34 percent by poor atmospheric
conditions. With the right information and a plan in
place, these hazards can be minimized.
In this webinar, offered by the Fisher Scientific team
and 3M, you’ll learn the basics of selecting the right
personal protective equipment, how to develop an entry
and rescue plan, and what training and tools are
available to you. Presenter Steve Kosch, 3M Personal
Safety Division, will leave you with a better
understanding of what’s needed to create and maintain a
safe work environment.
