Whitehat Communications Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how Whitehat Communications handles the personal information you provide to us when submitting online webinar registration and evaluation forms. Please read this information before providing any personal information to us.

Note: To opt out of communications from us, please contact us at: info@whitehatcom.com. Your communication preferences are important to us, and as such, we comply thoroughly and according to GDPR rules regarding any request for personal information removal.

                      

Personal information

 ‘Personal information’ is defined as any information that identifies you. Examples of personally identifiable information include your name, your postal address, your e-mail address, your telephone number, your place of work, and your IP address. In order to protect your privacy, we urge you not to provide Whitehat with any information that is not requested.

 

‘Sensitive’ personal information

Whitehat DOES NOT collect ‘sensitive’ personal information from you such as biometric data, personal health information, or any financial information of any kind.

 

Global transfer of data

To remain in compliance with GDPR rules, Whitehat's webinar programs are intended for an exclusively United States-based audience. However, to honor the principles of  egalitarian access to education, and in hopes of building a stronger, more informed laboratory world, Whitehat will not turn away any participants based on their location.

 

Please be aware that, if you are outside of the United States, Whitehat transfers webinar participant data to its Vendors within the United States. See below for details on how we may store and transfer your data if you are an international participant, and request P.A.C.E. continuing education credit.

 

As a reminder, the privacy and data protection laws in your country of residence may not be equivalent to the laws in the United States, which Whitehat Communications abides by. By using and participating in any Whitehat event, or by providing us with your information, you thereby consent to our processing of your information. This is required because we need to be able to communicate with you about the webinar program. In addition, if you are based outside the United States, and request P.A.C.E. continuining education credit for a live or recorded webinar, you thereby permit us to store AND to transfer your information to the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science. This is the only way for us to supply you with credit. If you don't wish for us to transfer your information, we recommend you request a general certificate of attendance when available; though, even when doing so, we will still need to process your information to supply you with your certificate. If you have any questions, we encourage you to contact us.

 

Whitehat does not send any personally identifiable information outside of the United States. We recommend all international prospective webinar participants familiarize themselves with the data collection laws of the United States.

 

How Whitehat uses information you provide

The information you provide to Whitehat Communications may be used to process and report continuing education credit and/or fulfill a certificate of attendance. While Whitehat does not license or sell your personal information to third parties, we may share this information with the specific sponsor(s) corresponding to the webinar(s) you register for or attend. In addition, the sponsor of the webinar may follow up with you with marketing communications, though do note you may always opt-out of these communications. We may also use this information to email invitations to you for webinars that, based on the information you provide, we deem appropriate to your professional specialty and location.

 

Combining of personal data

Whitehat may combine data you have provided at various stages of an event or from a variety of events. We use this data to research requests by you to verify fulfillment of CE and attendance certificates and to help ensure that we are sending you what we deem to be the most appropriate notifications of upcoming events.

 

Information security

While Whitehat and its third party services are diligent about maintaining the security of web pages that collect personal information, Whitehat takes responsibility only for the security of information on our own web sites and web pages.

 

Information storage

We store the information you provide to us in order to process services you request, for example continuing education and certificates of attendance, and to fulfill our storage obligations required by the CE issuer. We also store information to research and respond to participants’ requests for attendance verification, as well as to email webinar invitations that are appropriate to your specialty and location.

  

Opting Out

You may opt out of receiving all invitations from us by choosing ‘Unsubscribe’ on any invitation that you receive from Whitehat. You may also feel free at any time to contact us to request we remove all of your data from our mailing list and Continuing Education records.

 

Cookies

Whitehat itself does not use cookies, however third party services we use such as for our webinar platform and for evaluations/surveys and other forms may use cookies. These third party services may collect your browser type, your operating system, and your Internet Protocol (IP) address. Security of your data
We take the security of all of our data including the information you provide to us very seriously and utilize technology to protect unauthorized access to our data. In addition, we monitor the use of our service to detect unauthorized attempts at accessing our data. Any such attempts may be dealt with on a technical or legal level, as appropriate in a given case.

 

Global transfer of data

Please note that the privacy and data protection laws in your country of residence may not be equivalent to the laws in the United States, by which Whitehat Communications abides. By using and participating in any Whitehat events or providing us with your information, you consent to our collection, transfer, storage, and processing of information. However, Whitehat does not send any personally identifiable information outside of the United States. We recommend all participants become familiar with GDPR rules.

 

Privacy of Children

Whitehat does not knowingly collect or use any personal information from children (minors younger than 18 years of age). We do not knowingly allow children to register for or attend events, to submit evaluations or surveys, or provide us with any personal information whatsoever. If you are a parent and become aware that your child is providing us with any information, please contact us at info@whitehatcom.com.

 

Policy updates

We may update this Privacy Statement from time to time. If we modify our Privacy Statement, we will post the revised version here, with an updated revision date. You agree to visit these pages periodically to be aware of and review any such revisions. If we make material changes to our Privacy Statement, we may also notify you by other means prior to the changes taking effect, such as by posting a notice on our websites or sending you a notification. By continuing to use our website after such revisions are in effect, you accept and agree to the revisions and to abide by them.
